The competitive multiplayer aspects come from challenging either friends or other players to recover dropped significant loot, such as keys or relics. The big deal with Phantom Abyss is that the levels are randomized, with the idea that a temple exists until someone claims the relic at its center.

Daily mode: The same temple is available to all players for 24 hours. Unlike other modes, players can retry this temple as many times as they like.

One of the game’s highlights is how it cleverly bakes a sense of community into its design through the implementation of phantoms – ghosts of other players who came before you and were bested by the temple. Beyond merely providing a glimpse of where others died, these phantoms are both an assistance and a hindrance, as they activate the many proximity-based traps in each temple.

However, players who deploy it as a pass-the-controller experience at their next party will almost certainly get a lot out of it. This is an excellent game to play with a few friends after a drink or two, with everyone taking a run and passing the controls on when they either die or complete a level. But you won’t be dying alone. You’ll be able to see the specters of other players who have trod the same paths as you, giving you some insight into how you’ll be surviving the perilous predicament in which you’ve found yourself. But do take care, for when you meet your demise, that temple will be lost to you forever.

And double jump B tier. Heart container is better than double jump. You want long whip and wings anyways, so double jump is pretty useless, plus it glitches out sometimes.

Phantom Abyss requested you to run a gauntlet though, as fast as you could. We descended into Phantom Abyss and quite enjoyed what was on offer.

Phantom Abyss also taps into some roguelike elements with its blessing system, which offers you random power-ups for the run’s duration in exchange for collected treasure. Treasure is found in chests hidden throughout each temple, redeemable at statues between floors that offer one of two presented blessings, adding other strategic decisions to the action.

The latter still requires that you own the Steam version, so I guess there’s pelo reason to specify that. The game is looking all kinds of Phantom Abyss Game fantastic, so it seems like the right time to start getting hyped for when it’s available and I find myself dying horribly for hours on end.
